AwkwardTV forums offline

April 20th, 2008 by macTijn

Due to some DNS problems at the moofspeak guys, the forums are currently offline. Please bare with us while they fix the problem. We will update this post when there is anything to report.

Update: they fixed it. The DNS problems are solved. However, it might take up to a day until you can visit the forums again, due to DNS Time To Live.

AwkwardTV project discontinued

April 1st, 2008 by macTijn

Due to continuous illegal activities surrounding patchstick I’m giving up. End of the line, everyone off. It was a fun year or so.

OK, I think this was enough :)
Happy april’s fools day!

However, I do want to make a small statement. Patchstick is really not meant for distribution, via torrents or otherwise. I know I can’t stop it, but I can set rules for behaviour on the IRC channel, wiki and forums. Until now, it might not have been clear, but I think it is a big nono to download a torrent of Patchstick and then claim support. Also, linking to any Patchstick torrents is not done.

AppleTV hacking for windows users

March 9th, 2008 by admin

Apparently, someone made it possible to use Patchstick from Windows. Please take a look. This might be very useful for people using a real OS too ;) Oh, they also have a Wiki.

Please note, the linked site is not, in any way, related to any of the the AwkwardTV admins. We do not control what’s on there.

Apple TV costs almost twice as much in Germany

January 21st, 2008 by awk

As an Apple Germany spokesman confirmed today, the price for Apple TV will stay at 299 EUR = 437 USD. That is 1.9 times the US price!

When will Apple stop over-charging international customers?

Use iPhone as remote for AppleTV

November 27th, 2007 by macTijn

I just couldn’t let this one slip by. Apparently, someone was bored by his standard AppleTV remote and created this. now you can control your AppleTV from your iPhone or iPod touch (or actually any device with a web browser)!

I myself wasn’t aware of the existence of the IRKeyboardEmu.kext (a bit further down the page), which is used in the ATViPhoneRemote, but it’s something I wanted to have from the start, to create the above remote (although a bit more integrated with my home automation stuff).

Great work, to all involved in these projects!

PS

Thanks for the link, tom!

channl.tv brings TV channels to Apple TV

October 19th, 2007 by awk

Despite all the attention that iPhone and iPod touch got over the last few weeks, the list of plug-ins for the Apple TV is growing steadily, albeit slowly. One new kid on the block is channl.tv, an online service that lets you manage your TV channels. AwkwardTV had the chance to interview Bruno Keymolen from channl.tv.

channl.tv

AwkwardTV: What is channl.tv?

Bruno: What Flickr is for photos, YouTube is for video clips, Slideshare is for presentations, that is what channl.tv will become for channels on your tv.
Channl.tv is about creating your own channels on your TV because we believe you should be able to decide what you watch when you want to watch it. Channl.tv makes it possible to add clips from video websites on the internet like YouTube and Google Video to your channels so that you have a very broad choice of what to watch. Upon signup we will create 2 channels for you one of which is called Recommendations and in there we will let you know what might be of interest of you based on the clips you watch and that you add to your channels. Through the AppleTV extension that we provide you are able to bring all of your channels into a commercial of the shelf AppleTV settop box.

You may all have noticed that the wiki and blog were behaving badly for the last couple of weeks. Sorry about that, technical difficulties :/ We changed servers, and we have thought up a brand new setup for Apache and Squid.

Anyway, I’m happy to tell you that all is well again. Also, I’d like y’all to know that I have no intention whatsoever to stop hosting this project.

I sincerely apologise for any problems that occured during the outages.
